Yenem Engineering Services is set to change the engineering game

Yenem Engineering Services is set to change the engineering game once again, with the launch of its new brand, Engineers on Tap.

Engineers on Tap is all about efficiency and the concept does away with the messy and time-consuming practices of individual project contracts that exist in the industry.

The service is a monthly subscription-based model, in which Yenem’s engineers are available to organisations to assist in projects.

Instead of waiting for packages to be prepared, scopes of work written, quotes organised, and purchase orders raised, time is now better spent solving problems and providing solutions.

Working inside the client’s office ensures a better understanding of the project and the issues faced, whilst providing instant feedback on things like viability, feasibility, economy, durability.

The brainchild of Engineers on Tap, Yenem Engineering Services director Dave Meney says the service isn’t just labour hire.

“Unlike a contractor or a seconded engineer, we’re providing a full service,” Meney said.

“The quality assurance, the sign off, all of the software, the licensing, the insurances and all of those things are part of the package. But unlike a conventional consultant arrangement, we’re also talking directly to the designers and engineers, we’re in meetings, and contributing as if we were employees of the company.”

“A lot of the heartache of the administrative tasks are now removed and we can focus on delivering results for the required project.”

“For example, with our ‘Full Gas’ contract with Mineral Resources, only one or two hours per month are spent on administrative tasks – less than 1 percent.”

“Admin can sometimes take 20 per cent of a project, but now we’ve removed almost all of ours and reduced our client’s admin at the same time.”

GR Engineering Services have embraced the Engineers on Tap model and Principal structural engineer Rob Schofield says he is now free to work without the constant barrage of design questions from his drafting team.

“I initially felt guilty about the loss of control, but I know the project is in great hands and I’m makingmuch more progress on my other projects thanks to Yenem’s team,” Schofield said.

Engineers on Tap offers tiered plans, from ‘Idle’, to ‘Cruise’, to ‘Full Gas’. Each tier is at a different price point and comes with an increase in services.

Companies can easily move through the tiers as the project moves through its lifecycle, depending on the need for increased involvement or decreased involvement from the “on-tap” team.

Crucially, Meney says Engineers on Tap is about offering increased value to customers.

“I feel the pricing model for engineers is all wrong, it looks at hours and not value” Meney said.

“A big problem on projects is scope changes and when dealing with consultants this results in variations that can easily add unproductive time to projects and really slow things down. With Engineers on Tap there are no variations. We roll with the changes.”

“Most organisations need that extra engineer or half an engineer to deliver a project successfully. Our solution ensures they don’t need to stretch their resources, work weekends or put in overtime. Engineers on Tap can provide that helping hand that they really need on their project.”

“We’re also providing quality assurance, a checking role, a real solution and professional indemnity. We own and guarantee what we’re giving the client.”

“It’s not just an engineer showing up and doing some work for a while, it’s truly a complete professional package.”

Benefits of Engineers on Tap -

Save time: Preparing all the necessary documents for outsourcing takes time, stressing the in-house work force. Engineers on Tap can have an engineer on hand in hours and ensures quicker decisions, reduced overhead and higher productivity.

Increased Flexibility: An ongoing monthly fixed price tier is selected and paid in advance. Any time that either party spends on the project is in getting the project done, not wasted on admin. Also, monthly plans can be changed, depending on project needs.

Complete Service Provided: Engineers on Tap can provide preliminary design, detailed design, site visits, meeting attendance, drawing review and drawing approval as requested and directed by the client. They can also provide Yenem-branded or client-branded deliverables such as calculation reports, scopes of work, Safety in Design reports, technical specifications, Design Verification Certificates, and drawing signatures.

Support and Mentoring: Your assigned engineer is a very competent person. But you're not getting labour hire here, you're getting the whole "Yenem Experience", delivered from inside your office and ours, with as much additional support as your project requires and the selected tier provides. On all tiers, you get project oversight by Dave Meney, a registered and chartered professional engineer with over 30 years experience.
